Calling all adventure racers!
We are launching the official application for racers on January 15th for the Ryan Larkin Invitational Adventure Race (RLIAR)! Planning for this event has been a multiyear process, learning from mentors and supporting many other races and events. Now, finally it’s time! This is an escape and evasion military simulation.
The race will take place in the back country of the western slope of Colorado. We will start on the plateau in Montrose and traverse 62 miles over three days into the beautiful ski town of Telluride. Each day, fireteams of 4 will compete for completion times and challenges to gain points. Fireteams must start and finish together. Day one completion gets you the bronze medal. Day two, silver. Day three, gold. Only one team (points winner) will be awarded the platinum medals (and I’m working on something of high value as the reward). You can absolutely walk the course to completion, but the winners will definitely be putting out!
Official application opens: Jan 15, 2026
Team invitations announced: March 12
Registration Day: June 11 (Montrose, CO)
50% of fundraising goal: June 12
Opening Ceremony: June 12, 08:00
Day 1: June 12
Day 2: June 13
Day 3: June 14
Breakfast and Dinner will be provided at camp sites. Electrolytes and med will be provided at aid stations. Fireteams will carry their own water, tent, and snacks. Military type clothing and equipment mandatory. Each racer will carry a shape (fake rifle), slings optional. All teams will have a tracker. Entire race will be livestreamed on the website. Rest periods will be 20:30 to 06:00 nightly.
Team selection is not guaranteed. First come first serve is top priority. There are no registration fees and I am working to provide as many goodies for the teams as possible. Fireteams of 4 have a fundraising goal of $10k but only $5k is required to kick off on June 12. We will be helping with promotions on the donation pages.
You can apply now with no obligation. It’s better to apply now if you are considering racing as you can drop out later. Individuals can apply now without a team to have a better chance of being selected.
Get some! LLTB 🐸🔱
