An Unforgettable Day of Courage, Unity, and Purpose

On Saturday, August 16th, we came together for something far bigger than ourselves: the NYC SEAL Swim 2025. What began as a vision from Navy SEAL veteran Bill Brown has grown into one of the most powerful demonstrations of unity and resilience in the country. It began with honoring those lost in the tragic events of October 7th in Israel.

Men and women get together at the Empty Sky Memorial to honor 9/11 victims, #22veterans, and the men and women of uniform. This marks the beginning of the event.

Team 62romeo is the biggest team, representing 10% of the swimmers and donations. Some of them got together to eat dinner in Manhattan before the event.

This year we honored Justin Pegg, fallen Navy SEAL.

This year’s event was nothing short of incredible. Hundreds of swimmers, including veterans, first responders, patriots, and supporters from all walks of life, dove into the waters of the Hudson River with one mission in mind: to honor our fallen, support our warriors, and demonstrate the strength of the American spirit.

The energy was electric from the start. With the iconic New York City skyline as our backdrop, each stroke through the current represented perseverance, grit, and sacrifice. The crowd lining the shore reminded us that this effort resonates far beyond the swimmers. It’s about God, brotherhood and country.

This year was particularly difficult as the sea current changed by barge 2. As many as 30 swimmers were swept under the barge and many risked injury. Fortunately, through the leadership of Bill Brown, Mitch Aguiar, Jason Redman and others, we were able to get a good headcount and continue the event.

We finished the event with the World Trade Center Ceremonies.

The Navy SEAL Foundation’s role in supporting this event cannot be overstated. Their tireless work to provide resources for Navy SEALs, SWCCs, veterans, and their families ensures that our warriors receive the care and support they deserve. Every donation, every sponsorship, and every swimmer’s effort directly fuels that mission.

What makes the NYC SEAL Swim special is not just the athletic challenge, but the statement it sends: that Americans can come together, push limits, and rally behind a cause that matters.

We finished exhausted, proud, and deeply grateful — grateful for the teammates beside us, the families cheering us on, and the chance to give back to those who give everything.

To everyone who swam, volunteered, donated, or showed up to support: thank you. You are part of something that is changing lives and carrying forward a legacy of service and sacrifice.

Until next year — stay strong, stay united, and never stop swimming toward the mission.
